Well, it’s that time of year again…

Warren Gatland has named his 32-man Wales squad for the Six Nations Championship and I can barely wait for Wales’ first match this weekend.

Gatland is back full-time with Wales from his secondment coaching the successful Lions squad, his target is surely to defend their Six Nations crown and become the first side to win the title three years in succession, imagine that! Wales’ first match is at home to Italy on 1 February.

It’s this time of year I really miss Cardiff. It’s where Rocksalt was born and matured. I learnt a lot in the Capitol and worked with some wonderful people. Some of whom are the unforgettable Six Nations and Lions heroes.

Over the years I photographed the boys in all sorts of places, they were always so happy to oblige and crack a smile, and more often than not a joke or two.

The boys are also involved in a lot of charity work and we came across them at a lot of events, they always remembered us, greeted us warmly and made sure we got the shots we needed. What lovely manners they have; their mums would be proud.

Being rather diminutive in stature it was always a laugh to have my photo taken with a player or two. Even Leigh Halfpenny, who looks quite small compared to your Sam Warburton and Luke Charteris, is an absolute behemoth in comparison to me and my camera.

So, let’s cheer the boys on, here’s to a Grand Slam in 2014.
