When Ben + Libby first enquired and told me Rowton Castle was their venue choice, I’m not going to lie, I almost didn’t want to do it. You see Rowton Castle is an extremely important place for me – It’s where I got married back in 2008. I was kind of nervous to see another wedding there, I mean this is MY venue, right?
This was where my awesome uncle walked me down that aisle, my Mum stood up and spoke about how proud she was of us, where me and big sister giggled uncontrollably about my unfortunate head piece (which I didn’t end up wearing) and my warmest closest friends and family shared our day!
So much has changed since 2008, weddings have evolved and deep down I knew that Ben + Libby’s wedding would be so much better than mine! I didn’t want to see that – right?
I met with Ben + Libby, cute is an understatement with these two, we laughed and chatted for a while and I left feeling that I wanted to do their wedding no matter where it was – I needed to get over the fact that I would be walking back into Rowton and seeing another wedding that had nothing to do with me.
The wedding day weather was perfect (just like our wedding day) – Rowton has changed a bit since 2008 – I had a little explore and felt a real warm fuzzy feeling all over. I peeked into a few rooms and corners that held memories of my wedding and I felt so full of love I wanted to burst!
Being back wasn’t going to be about how I didn’t want to see another wedding, it was going to be so much bigger than that – it was about love and those moments that are created here, all of those tiny little memories that I would capture.
This was amazing, and awakening – even if all weddings in the whole world took place in Rowton Castle it didn’t matter – they are all amazing and special.
Of course I knew this before, but as soon as it became personal, I became blinkered!
I was so excited to get started and shoot Ben + Libby’s wedding.
THE perfect start to my 2017 wedding season.
Thank you Ben + Libby for coaxing me back to Rowton Castle, I got to relive some amazing memories and got to witness yours.
