Ok, so now that the nominees have been announced – I thought it best to write a little post about why I won’t be taking part in the Welsh Wedding Awards this year…….

After mentioning that I wouldn’t be taking part and since the nominees being announced this week – I’ve had lots of messages and comments asking why Rocksalt hasn’t been shortlisted.

Well, this year I have opted out of the awards – I received the usual email asking if I wanted to take part, but I knew that this year it would be a no from me.

The Welsh Wedding Awards are extremely special to me – I won my first award back in 2014, just a year after moving back to the area. I went to the awards feeling very lucky to be nominated seeing as I was still new to the area. I was absolutely astonished to win!

I returned in 2015 with much tougher competition but more confidence than the year before as I had really slogged my guts out that year and worked with really awesome couples that had helped sway my business into the direction I really wanted it to go. I was so happy to win again – being self employed and working alone can be a lonely place sometimes and to get recognition for your hard work is so awesome.

2016 – My most nervous year! I really felt pressure last year. I was so relieved to win but decided then and there that I was done with the awards. I wouldn’t put myself under the pressure again, don’t get me wrong the awards have been amazing for me, but I just feel that last win was enough for me, I’d proven my worth in the industry, to myself and others and it was time to bow out! Plus I’ve ran out of frocks!

Thank you so so much to everyone who voted, sent messages of luck and congratulations to me over the years. It was a blast!

Can’t wait for my gal pals (and Lee) smash it this year – I’d love love love to see Leri Lane get the Photography award this year – GO GIRL!
